Hanze University of Applied Sciences is pleased to announce the first Jean Monnet Chair seminar of 2025, featuring the distinguished Drs. Erika Zomerman. This exciting event promises to continue the tradition of engaging and insightful sessions in our Jean Monnet Chair seminar series.
Mrs. Zomerman, Sr. Advisor & Team Lead Engineering at Arcadis, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in sustainability, energy transition, and senior business consultancy. In addition to her role at Arcadis, Mrs. Zomerman runs her own successful consultancy company, Erika Zomerman Advies & Training. Her extensive career includes teaching courses on corporate sustainability, local energy systems, and energy transition at Hanze UAS’s School of Engineering and the International Business School. Her contributions to academia extend to research on designing future energy systems at the neighborhood level and PhD research at the University of Groningen on local renewable energy systems.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Zomerman has led numerous impactful projects. One notable example is the Flexigrow project, supported by Enexis, EnerGQ, and Gasterra, which focused on energy flow modeling at the neighborhood level. She has also made significant contributions at RWE and Essent, developing sustainable energy infrastructures and managed district heating systems in several Dutch cities. In her role as a CSR Ambassador at RWE, Mrs. Zomerman created and stimulated Corporate Social Responsibility awareness both within the company and externally. Her early career includes a stint as a project manager at Kerneland, where she managed international reorganization projects, and an assignment at TATA Steel focusing on the application of aluminum extrusion profiles in buses.
The seminar promises to offer valuable insights into Mrs. Zomerman’s extensive professional experience and is expected to attract significant interest from the international business MBA students and the wider Hanze UAS community.
